MY KINDA WEEKEND!

This past weekend was a cloudy, rainy, windy sorta weekend here in Maryland. Mind you, we aren't complaining because we love to hang out in our pj's and be cozy! and what better way to be cozy than baking cupcakes (one of my personal favorites)----It just doesn't matter what kind of cupcake, I love them all, but this is spice cake with cream cheese frosting. Can there be enough cream cheese frosting in the world? YUM!
My amazing husband baked bread. How can you go wrong with fresh baked bread hot out of the oven with butter melting on top?-----Not to mention a hubby who bakes bread! Gotta LOVE that!

As a family, we love a good game, and we found this one at Target! What a fun, easy to learn, entertaining, great time to spend together. The Kids had fun fun fun with this one as well as the Mom and Dad!

I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend. Spending time with my husband and kids, no matter what we do, as long as we are together!
I hope you all had a terrific weekend spending time with the ones you love!

FOR THE LOVE OF BIRDS

I wanted to share with you, a project I worked on last Friday in my studio. I had all day while the kids were at school to play and make a mess. Sooo....with coffee in hand, down I went, turned on my favorite tunes and started pulling out paper, glitter, trinkets, and bits of trim. I sketched, colored, cut, sewed, and glued. Happy as can be!

The end result---a magical wand!

I really love birds (well, the cute backyard type of bird, not vultures or anything like that). I have a big kitchen window and right outside, we installed a large bird feeder. Needless to say, we have many different varieties of birds come to visit. Cardinals, Eastern Bluebirds, Chickadees and finches, just to name a few. I enjoy watching them as they chirp, flutter, and perch in the nearby trees, waiting their turn at the feeder. I have actually learned alot from observing them for so long. I even bought myself a bird book so I can identify one that I have never seen before.

Now, with the arrival of Spring, the little feathered friends are all aflutter with nest preparations, and everything else birds do this time of year. It is a very busy and happy time just outside our window---a whole other world!!!

So, I guess that is where the inspiration came from for this particular piece--for the love of birds!!!

When my shop opens (soon), this wand will be available, along with many other goodies!

HAPPY SPRING!

COUNTDOWN TO SPRING

We are all looking so forward to Spring's arrival! I noticed the daffodils popping up in the garden and the buds start to form on the trees in the yard. I'm anxious to plant pansies and ready to spruce up the garden. I love it when the pink crabapples are in full bloom and the grass turns green. Everything feels fresh and nature is renewed again! It will be here soon, very soon. I can feel it! Can you?
Have a beautiful day!

STUDIO PEEK

I was playing around with my camera today and thought I would share a few glimpses of my very own sanctuary. My studio is in the basement of our home-- a place just for me where I can create, dream, play and make many glitter messes. I adore my space. The only drawback- there isn't any windows. So needless to say, there isn't any natural light. With that being said, I do love the coziness when all the lamps are lit. This photo is of the shelf above my work table--it displays a few things I have created over time.

Here are a few goodies that are sitting on my hutch. Displaying all the things that I love around the room is very inspiring. Please excuse the blurriness, I'm still experimenting with my old camera.

Gotta have those brushes and colored pencils handy, right? I also have a thing for vintage hankies--love love love them! They make perfect gowns for my fairies.

So there you have it! I have more to share--alot more. But, that will have to wait for another day. I'm off to make dinner for my kiddos. Tomato soup and grilled cheese---YUM!

COME ON IN

Welcome to my little corner of the world. Well, I finally took the plunge into blogland! You wouldn't believe what it took to get me here. I am the worst at making decisions, so this has been quite a journey. First decision---should I start a blog? Yes! That only took a few months. The next decision---Blogger or Typepad? This choice only took about 3 weeks. Then, it was time to sign up, but I kept dragging my feet because I had to decide on a title. Oh my, that was huge! Then, I had to choose a template, background colors, fonts, etc. Oh, the agony! So that was decided in a matter of a few days. Which lands me here, with my first photo (I couldn't sleep at night, deciding on that one). And gosh, I am so glad to be finally joining in the ranks with all the women who inspire me most! So, I hope you come back to visit me, because I think I'm here to stay! (I better be after how long it took me to get here!) I have many things to share, sneak peeks of my studio, my family, my everyday life and my up and coming online shop, Posies on Parade!

BTW, you think this is indecisive? You should see me in a restaurant, when it is time to order---it takes me forever!!!
